谢谢毛导

Big inside joke among the Grenoble missionaries: whenever we say "thank you" we use "谢谢毛导" from the I'm a Mormon video of Mao Kai Ping, the Taiwanese tour guide. It's been going on for many weeks 😀🇨🇳

This was a good week and seriously flew by. Time shouldn't be able to afford to go so fast, but I guess time is money and can afford to do whatever it wants. Punpunpunpunpunpun

Tuesday we had some back-to-back rendez-vous, first with an old woman who was baptized last June and is so so so funny. She's kind of crazy, we love her :) then we had our golden ami who is on track for baptism! He's awesome, we should have more good news about him soon. Last we had Gregory who has been really busy with work sadly :(

Wednesday we headed to the university to see the Chinese less-active dad and gave him back his umbrellas. Sadly there was no time to talk since he's such a busy guy, but we did meet another cool person. There was a born-in-Germany-but-grew-up-in-France student learning Chinese who had already spent 4 months in Taipei, Taiwan that we talked to. Not interested in our message, but a nice guy.

On Thursday I was on exchange with Elder Abney! He's from Gilbert Arizona, is really funny, and is going to be on Broadway. He goes home four transfers after me, so watch out for him ;) we went to an old member couple's house for lunch, it was fun. They made us raclette, It was so nice! Also they're Italian. We tried to pass Gregory at work after that, but we underestimated how far it was to where he works, so we ended up literally hiking up and over this foresty hill with some beehives and crazy dogs and a silent hawk soaring through the trees. Good think we both like animals. We never actually made it to see Gregory, kind of dommage :/ we're seeing him this Wednesday though!

Friday was interesting. We had a lesson with a younger bro who likes to work out and wants to join the army. The lesson went way long with all the discussion, but it went well mostly. We also weekly planned, not much to report there. Also this week we spent a fair amount of time at the Chinese supermarket to see some of our best friends that help us so so so so much with our 汉语. Grammar books are great, but only truly useful when tempered with a native speaker's opinion.

Here's a thought one of the members gave at church that I really liked! We were talking about positivity and he said that attitude towards life is apparent when you compare the Church News with regular news websites or TV programs. The first is more positive and joyful while the latter is often super depressing. Say what you will about the priority of keeping up with current events, depressing though they may be, but I've always found it much more beneficial to focus on peace and joy. It keeps more a lot more motivated to move forward.

That's the nice thing about light! It lets us move confidently forward. Filling your life with darkness will prevent you from progressing and one day, you'll look back on your life and see that you really haven't made it very far because the path ahead wasn't well lit enough to be traveled on. Réfléchissez-y, mes amis :)

God loves you all!
