As long as that's how it works, since winter is dying away here! All the snow finally melted and it warmed up a ton, I didn't even wear a coat last Thursday! It's been raining a fair amount which deposited some snow up on top of the surrounding mountains, but down here in the city it's just been windy.
I'm actually super out of time, sorry about that. The main things we did this week were play San Guo Sha (三国杀, the Chinese card game we'd play every week in Lyon)with one of our Chinese friends here! He works at the Chinese market we always go to, he's super cool and nice. Before we played we did a chapel tour and he accepted to take the lessons, so we'll see where that goes :) that same friend and some of his coworkers help us learn more Chinese every time we go over, and this week while we were at the shop talking to him, I had this sudden increased desire to master Chinese. I don't really know how to explain it, but I love the Chinese language! I love studying it (difficult though it may be at times) and look forward to the time when I can spend longer than an hour a day poring over the grammar book :) hashtag Chinese nerd right here. 🇨🇳🈲🉐🈯️🈸🍜🈶🈳🉑💴🈺🈹🈚️🇨🇳🈷🈵㊙️💴
We've had a few lessons with this miracle ami who showed up randomly at church, he's progressing really really well and may very well get baptized very soon, it's just a matter of being stronger than Satan. Don't listen to Satan! We also skyped one of the Chinese recent converts in Montpellier to reteach the Restoration, that was fun.
This week Elder Alvarenga and I (but mostly him) learned a valuable lesson on the power of fasting. There's a Chinese family in the ward who hasn't been to church in a long time and 鏖长老 was fasting at least in part to be able to see them, since they're super busy all the time. We stopped by their house after church, soaking wet because of course we didn't bring umbrellas. We dropped a letter in their mailbox like normal and I was about to walk away, but 鏖长老 listened to the Spirit and stopped. We went up the gate and saw movement inside the house, so he knocked and lo and behold, the dad comes out. We'd heard so much about how nice he was and how strong his testimony was and everything, but we'd never talked in person before. He was super nice! He even gave us two umbrellas to borrow, whatta guy. Fasting works, y'all :) it was a really simple blessing, but a significant one. Have a great week!
